June 20: Intl. Day of Tennis & Sphairistike

Original Sphairistike manual, written in Greek

Did you know that Tennis started out as a sport called Sphairistike (the ancient Greek term for art of playing ball) in 1874? Sphairistike eventually became the tennis we know today, the rackets changed a bit but the original rules did not really change that much. Tennis has been an Olympic sport since the first modern Olympics in 1896, although it did stop being an Olympic sport from 1924 to 1988.

We hope you use today as a day to learn a bit about tennis and to hopefully get you interested to play the sport yourself! Below is a short intro video about tennis, followed by a selection of products you can buy, including the videogame Tennis World Tour 2 and the Olympics videogame (which also has tennis). The review of Tennis World Tour 2 is after that, we recommend it because a new update was just released for it a few months ago that improved the game.
