Gemini (Castor & Pollux)

The story of Castor & Pollux, the twins who became the constellation Gemini. Please note this story is slightly edited from the real story, but it is still worth watching. Castor & Pollux also joined Jason and the Argonauts on their quest.

Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac, representing a pair of twins. It is associated with the element of air, the planet Mercury, and the colors yellow and blue. People born under this sign are said to be curious, adaptable, communicative, and versatile.

Gemini has its origins in a Greek myth about Castor and Pollux, also known as the Dioscuri. According to the myth, they were the sons of Leda, the queen of Sparta, but they had different fathers. Castor was the son of King Tyndareus, while Pollux was the son of Zeus, who seduced Leda in the form of a swan.

Castor and Pollux were inseparable brothers who shared many adventures and skills. Castor was an expert horseman and warrior, while Pollux was a brilliant boxer and fighter. They were also members of the Argonauts, the heroes who accompanied Jason on his quest for the Golden Fleece.

One day, they got involved in a quarrel with their cousins, Idas and Lynceus, over some cattle they had stolen. A fight ensued and Castor was fatally wounded by Idas. Pollux was devastated by his brother’s death and begged Zeus to let him die as well. Zeus offered him a choice: he could either stay immortal in Olympus or share his immortality with Castor by spending half of his time in the underworld.

Pollux chose the latter option and became a constellation in the sky along with his brother. They were known as Gemini, meaning “the twins” in Latin. They were also honored as the patrons of sailors and travelers, who prayed to them for protection and guidance.
