Taurus

The zodiac Taurus comes from the story of the Cretan bull, which was the 7th labor of Herakles, and was also the father of the Minotaur, which was defeated by Theseus.

Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac, representing a bull with large horns. It is associated with the element of earth, the planet Venus, and the colors green and pink. People born under this sign are said to be loyal, reliable, sensual, and patient.

Taurus has its origins in a Greek myth about Europa, the daughter of King Agenor of Phoenicia and Telephassa. According to the myth, Europa was a beautiful princess who caught the eye of Zeus, the king of the gods. Zeus was smitten by her and decided to seduce her. He transformed himself into a magnificent white bull and appeared near the shore where Europa and her friends were playing.

Europa was charmed by the bull and approached it to pet it. The bull seemed gentle and friendly, and Europa climbed on its back. The bull then ran away with her across the sea to the island of Crete. There, Zeus revealed his true identity and made Europa his lover. He also gave her a necklace made of stars that formed the shape of a bull.

Europa bore Zeus three sons: Minos, Rhadamanthus, and Sarpedon. They became the rulers of Crete and judges of the underworld. Europa also became the queen of Crete and gave her name to the continent of Europe.

The bull that carried Europa became a symbol of love, beauty, and fertility that many cultures revered. The Egyptians called it Apis, the Babylonians called it Marduk, and the Greeks called it Taurus. The constellation Taurus was placed in the sky by Zeus to honor his beloved Europa.
