    Plutarch is considered the father of biographies because he was the first to write detailed biographies of famous people in and before his time in a way no one else had done. He chose the 50 of the most important people and wrote about them in Plutarch’s Lives.

    Since 2013 the Plutarch award is given every year to the best biography of the year. You can read more on that here:
