Euro 2020 & Copa America 2021 : All roads lead to Bergamo

This year, as Italy and Argentina both won their respective national competitions (Euro & Copa America), there was 1 club that celebrating with both of them (and many others). Atalanta Bergamasca (based in Bergamo, Italy) provided the most active players among the most successful teams at both the Euro and Copa America.

There were 2 Atalanta players on the Italian national team when they won the Euro 2020, as well as 2 Atalanta players on the Argentina national team when they won Copa America 2021. That alone would be an amazing achievement, but for Atalanta that is just the tip of the iceberg. Atalanta had players on the Colombia team also as they got 3rd place in the Copa America. Atalanta had players in 7 out of the 8 quarter-finals matches at Euro 2020.

2 Atalanta players even got Man of the Match awards for 2 different national teams (Germany & Russia) while playing at Euro 2020. You can see that it is no understatement to say that this summer, at Euro 2020 & Copa America 2021 : All Roads Lead to Bergamo.

Atalanta provided talent to practically all important teams this summer, and this is a fantastic achievement for such a small club that has really begun to shine in the recent years. You can read some news clips about them here:

Atalanta, from provincial yo-yo club to dominating Euro 2020

According to those articles, which are from June right after the group stage, Atalanta was the club from which players scored the 2nd most goals in the Euro 2020. Atalanta broke a Euro record by having the the most different goalscorers in the history of the competition (5 at the time of the article, probably more now).
