A few days ago 4 new short movies based on Roald Dahl short stories were released on Netflix: The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, The Swan, The Rat Catcher and Poison. Directed by Wes Anderson, who previously directed another Roald Dahl adaptation, Fantastic Mr. Fox (from 2009), and starring actors such as Ralph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley, and Benedict Cumberbatch, these short movies are targeting a slightly older audience than Roald Dahl is usually known for. They are also not like normal movies, they are done in a creative way that narrates the story as written in the novel, told through the characters.

Netflix bought all the rights to Roald Dahl’s works, so hopefully this is just the beginning of many Roald Dahl adaptations coming to Netflix. Matilda the Musical came out last year, and more movies are currently under production, such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, and The Twits.

And that is probably just the start, looking forward to many more coming over the years!
