Parthenope, the original name of Napoli

Napoli (Naples), the city which started out as Greek colony called Parthenope, after the siren from Homer’s Odyssey, and then renamed to Neapolis (New City in Greek), won the Italian football championship for the 3rd time ever. They had not won since 1990 when Maradona played for them.

In 2018, a BBC News poll voted The Odyssey as the most influential story of all time, as you are probably aware if you have been following us for some time now.
