Over 1,600 years after Lucian of Samosata wrote the first work of Science Fiction, modern Science Fiction was born when Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein : A Modern Prometheus. With time the “Modern Prometheus” part was dropped and it was just called Frankenstein. But it should be remembered that Mary Shelley based her work on the story of Prometheus, the Titan from Greek mythology who stole fire from the gods.
