It’s time for the yearly Big Give Christmas Challenge from Classics for All, the UK charity that specializes in improving Classics education in UK schools. Classics for All is a UK-based educational charity dedicated to bringing the study of the ancient world — including Latin, Ancient Greek, Ancient History and Classical Civilisation — into state primary and secondary schools.

The charity gives grants, training and support so that schools without a classics tradition can introduce these subjects, often training non-specialist teachers so the classics can become part of the regular curriculum rather than just an extra-curricular club.

It also creates and curates teaching materials, supports events and workshops, and helps embed classics in a sustainable way so that classical subjects remain available long-term.

Overall, Classics for All’s mission is that “every state school pupil” should have the opportunity to benefit from learning about the languages, history and culture of the classical world — regardless of background or prior access.
