Over 1700 years before Nicolaus Copernicus figured out that the sun is the center of the universe and all planets revolve around it, Aristarchus of Samos had proposed that. In those days it was believed that the Earth was the center of the universe so nobody believed him until Copernicus proved it. Quick video about that:
